Old Man Winter Go Away...Come to Play Another Year...

Okay...so that's not *exactly* how it goes, but close enough!!!!  That lovely ice storm that we had left us without power for three days.  We were the lucky ones, tho~  alot of our neighbors didn't get theirs back on until Sunday night or Monday morning.  We were supposed to have gotten "1 - 2" of snow" (as the meteorologists put it) on Sunday night.  That turned into 5 1/2" of snow along with 50+mph winds on Monday that gave us blizzard conditions.  I was actually afraid to send my kids across the yard to do horse and cattle chores for fear they wouldn't find their way back to the house!!!  Blinking and fluttering lights all day Monday left us without much to do (I unplug everything in situations like that because you never know when there might be a power surge).  No school for the kids again on Monday and Tuesday this week.  I'm beginning to wonder if their school year is going to extend into July this summer!!!  On a good note ~ they DID go back today and I think those three little faces were as happy to get on the bus as Mom was to put them there!!! LOL  Now for another cold snap...we're looking at lows in the negatives again the next few nights. :)

On the other hand...what PERFECT weather for stitching and sewing, knitting, crocheting or baking.  For me, it will be the perfect weather to hole-up in my studio and get some serious behind-the-scenes work completed!!  I purchased a new MacBook Pro computer last week, then took it and my old, limping computer back in to the store during the power outage to have all of my information transferred over into the new one (or at least all of it that they would do).  Now to just find the time to finish the job. :)

I will be closing the site down for orders from February 5th through February 22nd for a little break.  I'll be starting the process of inputting all of our products into the new website ~ yes, it's finally coming to fruition!!!!  If things go well, we should have the new site up and running no later than March 15th.  We are VERY excited and hope that you will enjoy the new site as much as we will. :)

It's a Beautiful Day to Make a Fresh, New Start!!

Hello All!  I hope that you have had a wonderful holiday season and taken time for yourself to relax and unwind as well.

Here in the Midwest of the USA, we experienced two major snow/ice events during the holidays leaving us with an additional 12"+ of snow, lost our power twice and blew up one computer.  I also experienced, for the first time, my business account with PayPal being compromised.  Don't worry ~ if you've paid me with PayPal in the past...the hacksters didn't get any information from my account, they simply forged requests for payment and withdrew the money to pay for the forged requests.  All is settled now ~ PayPal has assured me that all of my information (and yours as well) is safe and we can move on from here.  Truthfully ~ I've had my PayPal accounts for 10+ years and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened.  I am not worried and will continue to use PayPal as an option for payment. :) 

We did get the blown-up computer back up and limping...a new one will be decided upon and ordered this week with delivery soon after (I hope!).  Merry late Christmas to me!! :) LOL

If you've sent me an email in the past couple of weeks, I'm playing catch-up today and tomorrow so expect a response soon!  I apologize for the delay but with no power, there's no internet and with the computer being down, there's no internet either. :(  Technology is great!! :)

Let's move on to some better news. :)  I do truly think of a new year as a new start...a new beginning...a chance to right all of those wrongs or renew those friendships or increase the love you give to others.  I tend to usually make a few resolutions and can hold onto one or two of them the whole year through.  Whatever it is you decide to do this year, make sure you count yourself as the most important person and take care of yourself first.  For me, with four kids, a husband, a working farm, cattle, chemical company and this business...it is easy for me to put myself on the back burner.  I have learned (quite well this year) that if *I* don't take care of ME, I only get burnt out and my productivity fails as a result.  Raise your glass to celebrating your life all year through!  Make 2010 everything you want it to be!

An update...and NEW patterns! :)

Hello All!

We are still doing some "behind the scenes" work at updating the current site.  Here is what we've done so far:

Updated each and every designer's section.  This includes moving whatever is on sale to the SALE folder, inputting new products and deleting products we have sold out of and will no longer carry as "regular stock" and moving products that we only have 1 left of that will also no longer be regular stock when we're sold out to the new O-N-E-S-I-E-S folder.

Updated the sale section by inputting each designer's name with the pattern name and putting the "WAS" price so you can see what kind of a bargain you are getting! :)

We still have quite a few patterns to post to the O-N-E-S-I-E-S section and also will be revamping the CLEARANCE section SOON! :)

We are also working with a website development team to build a fully integrated e-commerce site...one where you can point and click, put it in your shopping cart and pay all on your own! :)  It has been coming down the pike for a long time now ~ and the final touches are being made before inputting all of our products and launching.  Look for some exciting changes to be happening SOON! :)  If you have any suggestions as to what you do/don't like in a website, please feel free to let me know! :)

Some of you have asked if I'm doing okay after the year I've had.  The answer is a resounding YES although there are still bugs to be worked out, changes to be made and relationships to mend.  It sounds exhausting ~ and it is ~ but I've loved getting emails from you and keeping busy with the business to help take my mind off other things. :)

I also wanted to explain a little bit about what goes on around here on a daily basis as some of you have asked.  We typically sort through and attempt to answer 80 - 100 emails every day plus a dozen or more phone calls.  Sometimes there are inquiries (do you have this pattern?), sometimes there are requests (can you get this pattern?), sometimes there are questions (how do your BOM programs work?) and sometimes there are ORDERS!!! :) LOL  I try and look at/answer emails 7 days a week...but sometimes, with four children and a husband, that just isn't possible.  As you can imagine, just one day of not responding puts me two days behind. :)  It's not a bad problem ~ really ~ and I LOVE talking to all of you...about what you're doing, about what you want to do, about the fun stuff happening in your lives, etc. and I just want you to know that you are ALL very important to me and I truly do cherish the friendships I have made over the past two years.  I try to do my best every day at getting orders and such out as quickly as I can ~ I know how exciting it is to order something new and can't wait to get it!!!! :)  But you must remember that, for the most part, I am only one person. :)  The girls you have seen on the website help out as much as they can ~ but they are primarily my employees for shows ~ getting ready, working the show and then putting the studio back together again afterwards. :)  On a daily basis... it's just little 'ol me. :)

I PROMISE you that things will get better and run a little more smoothly once the new integrated site gets up and running!  Until then, we'll continue taking orders via email and phone.

NOW...for the BIG announcement!!!  We are very proud to be carry a brand-new, revolutionary product for the embroidery industry!  The girls and I have been stitching, stitching, stitching trying every which way to get this product to fail and we CANNOT.

Here's what it is:  It is a very pliable film that feels like a very lightweight piece of paper.  You put it into your printer (laser, inkjet, copier ~ doesn't matter) and copy/print off your stitchery design.  Cut around the design (roughly), peel off the paper backing and stick it to your fabric.  Yes, I said STICK IT...it is self-attaching like a sticky-note.  NO BASTING!!!!  Then, you stitch as usual.  It is VERY easy to needle through.  When you are done with your stitching, you soak your stitchery for a few minutes in cold water and POOF!!!  It disappears.  No tracing.  No worrying about what color to trace your stitchery or staying EXACTLY on your stitchery line so that it doesn't show.  It is simple and fun and believe us, you will be amazed (we're still raving about it)!!!!!!

We are currently working on other ways to use it as well.  I know that it would be fantastic for punchneedle and I'm in the process of doing a hand-applique project and it seems to be working fabulously as a placement guide for my applique pieces as well.

Right now, we are still trying to determine how to package it since we've purchased it in bulk.  Initially - we're going to offer it as single sheets for $1.50, packages of 6 for $7.75 or packages of 12 for $15.  If these numbers don't work and we find that you are wanting to purchase in bigger packages (like a package of 24 or 36), we'll re-evaluate.

Updating...a necessary evil. :)

Good Sunday Morning to you all! :)  We have begun the tedious process of completely updating the site.  The magazine section is complete with the exception of two issues of Country Threads that are without description at the moment.  We'll be completing them and posting to the regular blog roll later on this afternoon.

Some of you know about an absolutely FABULOUS product we came across while in Des Moines at the last show.  This will absolutely revolutionize embroidery as we know it ~ you will never need to trace your patterns to stitch again.  EVER.  We just can't quit raving about it!!!  Of course, we're not *quite* ready to post it to the site yet...but we will be SOON! :)

Just a couple of other "announcements": 

The patterns in our sale section are now going to be Buy 1 to 2 patterns - $10 each; Buy 3 to 5 patterns - $8 each; Buy 6 or more patterns - $6 each.

The patterns in our clearance section are now $6 each.

We will also be adding a "ONESIE" section in which we'll be posting those patterns of which we only have one left and will not be reordering for regular stock.  They are priced per pattern and are not discounted.  You will want to, however, order them as you see them because with only one ~ they won't last long!! :)

We're all checked in with Australian magazines galore...

Sorry for the delay in processing our new additions.  My brother-in-law was flown home from Seattle and we have spent the last three weeks prepping him for life at "home".  He is doing well considering all that he's been through and we THANK YOU sincerely for all of your thoughts and prayers.  He has a long road ahead of him but we know he can do it with a little rehabilitation and lots of love and prayers from family and friends! :)  THANK YOU! :)

In the meantime, our five-year old daughter came down with the flu and after testing (twice) it was determined NOT to be H1N1 like first thought.  Thank goodness!!  But how demanding little girls can be on an every day basis not to mention when they're not feeling well!!!! LOL  Her fever finally broke today and, hopefully, will be gone for good so she can return to school tomorrow. :)

OUR BIG NEWS is that Australian Homespun Vol 10 No 4 has FINALLY arrived!!!!  This issue has been around the world and back again!!!  It was sent to the wrong address from the publisher in Australia ~ so it came to Canada, was returned to Australia and then had to be sent back to Canada again.  We finally got our stock a few days ago. :)

We have lots of new issues to post, so let's get to it! :)

We're Back and Have Lots of New Things to Share!

The Minnesota Quilter's Show in Duluth was GREAT!  Below are some pics of our booth...

We had a GREAT time...love Duluth and Betty's Pies in Two Harbors (YUM!!!). :)  We all got a nice little break following the show and came back to the studio to TONS of orders!  We have the BEST customers at Treasured Threads and we truly do appreciate you all! :)  The best part of being on the road is getting to meet you in person!

There are boxes of stock that have recently arrived and we'll be posting them to the website over the weekend.  In the meantime, be sure and check out the sale section ~ we've added many more items! :)

NEW NEW Newsy News! New Products! New Show! NEW NEW NEW

Whew!  What a month May was!  As we move into the month of June and the beginning of summer, don't forget your SUNSCREEN as you spend time in the beautiful outdoors! :)  On the other hand, when that sun outside is blazing HOT, what better activity than to hunker down in your sewing studio or stitching chair and work on a project in the cool air conditioning?  Or what about all of those kids' summer activities that we get to enjoy?  I know I have time on my hands every time I take them to dance practice, baseball practice, music lessons, etc.  Stitching is a GREAT take-along project! :)

Some of you have been asking about our magazines and I'd like to take just a brief minute to explain to you how they work.  Currently, we carry Australian Homespun and Australian Country Threads.  They are bulk shipped to our distributor in Canada ~ and then repackaged and sent here in the USA in the amount we've ordered.  Sometimes, since we are dealing with two international shipments, things get delayed.  From the manufacturer, in customs, from our distributor.  These are all things outside of our control.  A good example is our most recent shipment of Country Threads:  one box arrived with one issue on Friday and a larger box with TWO issues arrived on Monday.  All of the newest three issues of the magazine at one time.  I don't like it when it happens that way ~ but it is a fact of our distribution system. :)  We also received three boxes of new stock this week and we are trying to get everything checked in, pre-orders sent out and the website updated as quickly as we can.  For those of you waiting on Australian Homespun Vol 10 No 4 ~ our distributor assures us we'll get our order ~ but maybe not before we receive Australian Homespun Vol 10 No 5.  I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens! :)

One last little "bookkeeping" item:

WE WILL BE CLOSED FROM MONDAY, JUNE 8th THROUGH SUNDAY, JUNE 21st.  We will be vending at the Minnesota Quilter's Show in Duluth, Minnesota (show dates are Wednesday, June 10th through Saturday, June 13th).  The girls and I are taking a much needed mini-vacation (girls only! LOL) and spending a few days in beautiful Duluth (home of Karen McTavish, the *amazing* long-armer) following the show. :)

Any orders placed and paid for between now and Sunday, June 7th at 5pm will ship out on Monday morning.  As usual, we will make every attempt to answer emails while we're gone but there are no guarantees when we're on the road. :)  Otherwise, we'll see you back here (with more new things by then, I would guess) on Monday, June 22nd!

Oh, what a chore to go through and pick out what to put on clearance and what to put on sale. :)  It's a demanding task but somebody's gotta do it!!! Chicago Review!

WOW!!  What a great time we had in Chicago!  It was so nice to meet so many of you and tell you about our wonderful Australian designers!!

I'm going to do a "photo journal" of our booth so you can see how things progressed...

I really need to take a "blank slate" picture of what it looks like when we walk in the door.  For those of you who have never done a trade show or been to a consumer show during the set-up process, we come in the door and are greeted by 200 square feet of NOTHING.  We put up our own booth poles, backdrapes, lights and decorations.  In addition to all of our samples and things for sale! 

In this picture, the walls are up and we have one spinner display put together.  We're working on the other one.  AND still SMILING!!!!! LOL

 Here Barb and I are putting the next spinner rack together. 
I think the girls would really like to have closed me in there and left me for the entire show!!!!!!

 Things are still a mess!!!  But we're starting to get it put together...

 After 1/2 a day of working, the girls begin to act like THIS!!!!! (Yes, that is a hammer!!!)  LOL
